Homage to Bonnard

2003 – 24×36 in. – acrylic on canvas

Sometimes what appeals to an artist in terms of the colors of buildings does not always please the public. The purple building behind the Post Office has long intrigued me as a fun element in the visual field – it is only now being fixed up after being empty for so many years. For this painting the colors of spring set up a wonderful palette with the purple and I titled it in homage to a French colorist, Pierre Bonnard.  The following painting in this web Gallery, “Homage to Mondrian” actually preceded this one – note that the low concrete wall has been repaired.
