I keep making art because it’s the way that I engage with the world around me, using my sensitivity to visual detail along with my physical, intellectual and emotional energy. In the 70’s and early 80’s I painted the streetscapes of the city along with its crowds at the racetracks and SPAC. And then I shifted my attention to much wilder landscapes, often in the Adirondacks. With this project I am now also spending time close to home. As I re-explore the role of urban trees in my work, I hope the project adds to the ongoing conversation about the role of trees in the city of Saratoga Springs.
